Week of 17 November 2008

iNews

This week is the first week of fraction work.  Fractions can be exciting…or intimidating based upon the background knowledge of the student.  We will work together to make paper models, experiment together through hands-on activities and explore some fraction labs together to insure that each student has a good understanding of fraction basics.

On Friday, all 6th graders are heading to Willard High School to watch the play, “Beauty and the Beast”!  Students will need to be at school on time (at 8:40 am)!  The bus will pick us up at 8:45 am so that we can be at the high school theater by 9:00 am for the show.  We will return to school in time for lunch.  Each student has been given a permission slip.  These slips are due by THURSDAY 11/20!!  We must have these slips in order for your child to attend the play.

Have a super week!

Thank you so much for the time that you dedicated to parent-teacher conferences.  We had 100% attendance and it was great to get a chance to talk with each of you!  Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education.   While they may not be thankful right now, I am sure that years from now they will be very grateful to have had parents who genuinely cared!

Also, a HUGE thank you to the parents who took the time and energy to plan and hold the class Fall Party!  It was a great success and the chidren had a wonderful time.  There were plenty of treats and goodies for everyone and the games were a blast!

Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday!
